The Lakeland Country Fair takes place at Torver, near Coniston, in beautiful countryside looking across to the Coniston fells and Coniston Old Man. It is easily accessible, at the junction of the A593 and A5084, a few miles west of Coniston village.

As well as being a typical Cumbrian show, the Lakeland Country Fair acts as a showcase for traditional Cumbrian skills and activities.  There will be Herdwick and Swaledale sheep on display and demonstrations of hand-clipping will take place during the afternoon.

Features include a Terrier Show followed by Terrier Racing, a Lurcher Show,  a family Dog Show, Childrens' Sports, a Stick Show, a Sheepdog Show for pet and working sheepdogs, a Foxhound Show, Beagle Show and a Horn-blowing competition!  There will be Cumberland & Westmorland WrestlingFell Races for adults and juniors, and a Ferret Show.

Many traditional skills will be on show; it is hoped that these will include stickmaking, swill basket making, fly tying, beekeeping, taxidermy, weaving, spinning, leatherwork, cookery and sheep clipping. In the main ring you can see  Displays - this year sees a dramatic display of Falconry by Richard Cookson of Cuerden Birds of Prey as well as the traditional display by the local fell foxhound and beagle packs. There will also be an opportunity to see Cumbrian Fell ponies and find out about this ancient breed, and watch Rolande of "Dog-a-Log" doing chainsaw carving. A feature of the show will be teams from the local Young Farmers taking part in a Tug-of-War.

The Lakeland Country Fair offers something for all the family - as well as numerous Trade Stands there is a childrens' area with bouncy castle, face painting and Quad Bikes. There will be Donkey Rides for the children and hopefully a Rodeo Bull. In addition, Darren Morgan of "Independent Adventure" will be running Have-a-Go Archery. There is a licensed bar, home-made refreshments and a barbecue.
